Cartagena boasts some of the best beaches in Spain. Below is a selection of the best urban and rural beaches in the area.

Calblanque National Park – beautiful, natural beaches located between Cabo de Palos and La Manga Club.  These are rural beaches so pack plenty of food and water!

Mar de Cristal – village beach on the Mar Menor, is great for water sports and particularly suitable for small children as the beach is sandy and slopes very gently.

La Manga – long sandy beaches stretching along the Mediterranean Sea.  These are urban beaches which are bordered with apartments, hotels and cafes.

Bolnuevo near Mazarrón – wide sandy beach opposite a large car park. There are also great walks along the coast to secluded coves.

Los Alcázares – long sandy beach with a very long promenade which is great for a stroll during the cooler months.  This is an urban beach with plenty of sun beds and cafes.

Lo Pagán – at Mar Menor beach, with free mud treatments to make you feel 10 years younger.  Smother yourself in sulphurous mud from the old salt flats and then enjoy a relaxing float in the Mar Menor.  This is also a great location for cycling and walking.

El Mojón – long sandy beach on the Mediterranean with sand dunes. Plenty of convenient parking and close to the marina and salt lakes of San Pedro .
